SARIKEI: A concrete flooring project is being planned for Rumah Panjang Kam Gaing, Bintangor, under the ‘Program Mesra Rakyat 2025.’

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the project aims to improve the surrounding environment and living conditions of the longhouse residents.

He assured that the government remains attentive to the needs of the people, particularly those in rural areas.

“With better concrete roads, it will not only ease the daily movement of residents but also stimulate local economic growth, including agricultural activities,” he said.

Huang, who is the local MP and Repok assemblyman, stressed the importance of strong cooperation between technical agencies and the elected representative’s service team.

“Such collaboration is crucial to ensure timely implementation and meaningful impact for the people,” he added.

Sarikei People’s Service Centre officer Wong Soon Mee, representing Huang, was accompanied by Sarikei Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) assistant engineer Husaini Ahie during a recent visit to the longhouse.

The team inspected the current condition of the space beneath the longhouse and discussed implementation plans for the proposed works.
