NAIM said it is thrilled to see Wisma Melayu Sarawak taking shape with such remarkable progress.
“The successful installation of the roof trusses marks a significant milestone, bringing us one step closer to realising our vision for this vibrant hub of cultural exchange and community engagement,” NAIM added.
Construction of Wisma Melayu Sarawak costing RM73 million began in early 2023.
The architectural inspiration draws from the Tengkolok — a Malay fabric headgear worn in the olden times, which emphasises the Malay heritage.
Upon completion, the two-storey building will stand as a hub of activity, boasting a main convention hall capable of accommodating 2,000 people, along with three seminar and meeting rooms.
Additionally, it will feature a Malay arts and culture gallery, exhibition space, and a surau.
The inclusion of a recreational park, adorned with mature jackfruit trees, adds a serene touch, while a basement parking space provides ample space for 290 vehicles.
