BAU: Narcotics police have arrested a construction worker after suspected methamphetamine was found in his possession yesterday (Jan 14).

The arrest was made during ‘Ops Tapis’ in Kampung Sebobok, where officers detained the 32-year-old local man for inspection.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said it led to the discovery of a plastic packet containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine.

The drugs seized weighed 0.41g and was estimated to be worth RM50.

“Initial urine screening test found the suspect tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.

Background checks found that the man has a prior drug-related record, and admitted that he last abused drugs a day before his arrest.

Mohd Haide said the case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
