SAMARAHAN: Efforts to protect consumers at the upcoming Ramadan Bazaar were strengthened through a special briefing on regulations, clear pricing, and food hygiene for organisers and vendors ahead of Ramadan.
The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) held the briefing at Dewan Suarah, Samarahan today as part of measures to enhance the management of Ramadan bazaars in the district.
According to MPKS Chairman, Abang Ismawi Abang Ali, this proactive step is crucial to ensure that this year’s Ramadan Bazaar operates in an orderly, transparent manner while providing a healthy and competitive business environment.
During the session, representatives from the Samarahan District Health Office emphasised the importance of food hygiene, including proper handling of raw ingredients, safe food preparation, and the implementation of campaigns to reduce sugar in food and beverages.
This approach aligns with government efforts to raise public health awareness, helping to reduce the risk of diet-related illnesses within the community.
Meanwhile, a briefing by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) highlighted vendor compliance with pricing regulations, labelling requirements, and the responsibility to ensure price transparency throughout Ramadan.
Public safety aspects were also addressed through information shared by the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters, covering traffic control guidelines, congestion management, and crime prevention measures in bazaar areas.
MPKS hopes the briefing will elevate the professionalism of vendors and organisers, ensuring that the Ramadan Bazaar in Kota Samarahan runs smoothly and safely, as well as provides economic benefits to the local community.
