SERIAN: Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Martin Ben called on all residents of Kampung Mapu Kijabu to continue carrying out agricultural activities to increase their income.
Martin, who is also Kedup assemblyman, said the area of Kampung Mapu Kijabu has suitable land for various commodity crops such as oil palm, pepper and rubber as well as livestock activities.
“With the availability of well-equipped basic facilities in Kampung Mapu Kijabu area and the funds provided by the government, the villagers need to take the opportunity to boost farming and animal husbandry activities either individually, in groups or commercialised in their respective land areas,” he said at a programme held recently.
Taking note of the unsatisfactory internet access in the area, he said the issue is expected to be resolved in 2024 with the installation of optical fibre, which is now entering its second phase.
He also announced an allocation of RM10,000 to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and RM5,000 each to the Women and Youth Bureau of Kampung Mapu Kijabu.
