PADAWAN: Continuous development, advancement of the education agenda, and the strengthening of welfare initiatives for the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency will be continued in 2026.

Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament (MP), Datuk Willie Mongin, expressed his hope that within his parliamentary constituency, all basic needs will be given due attention, and also emphasised on the aspect of education.

He highlighted that the year 2026 marks the beginning of the implementation of higher education financial assistance by the Sarawak State Government.

“I also hope that the children of Puncak Borneo will take advantage of this opportunity to further their education so that they can achieve academic excellence and receive a well-rounded education, progressing to a higher level.

“From a community perspective, I do not want to see the people left behind, and I also call upon all relevant agencies and ministries to look into the basic infrastructure needs of the community here, as well as development in terms of telecommunications requirements,” he said.

In addition, Willie stressed that telecommunications are now extremely important for rural communities to stay connected with the outside world.

He said this at Puncak Borneo New Year Countdown Euphoria at Kampung Tabuan Rabak on Wednesday night (Dec 31).

Moreover, he hope Sarawakians will continue to give support to the GPS government so that the government remains stable, upholds justice, and enables the people to continue living in a peaceful and harmonious environment.

“Political stability is crucial for us to continue achieving progress, and I can see that many developments have already been implemented, although I understand that some have not yet been fully completed.

“However, as MP and state assemblymen, we are determined to continue bringing development, advancing the education agenda, and strengthening welfare initiatives for the community.

“My hope for 2026 is that all of us will have the determination and spirit to work hard, strive forward, help ourselves, and uplift our dignity so that we may continue to progress and prosper,” he said.
