KUCHING: Continuous rainfall since last night has led to flash floods in various areas across Kuching and Samarahan.

Numerous social media users have shared images and videos depicting flooded streets in locations such as Paradise Garden Mile 9, Mile 3, and Mile 7.

As of the latest update, the Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM) has reported rising water levels along Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho, rendering some roads impassable.

APM also reported that they have conducted surveillance of flood prone areas including Kampung Sinar Budi.

Meanwhile, the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has deployed a team to Samarahan to initiate surveillance of flood prone areas in the division.

Social media reports have also indicated that Timberland Medical Centre has been affected by rising water levels, and roads from Kuching Central towards Mile 7 were inaccessible to vehicles as of 4 am this morning.

However, as of 8am the heavy downpour has stopped and waters are expected to decrease.
