SARIKEI: A total of 69,480 sticks of regular and clove contraband cigarettes worth RM56,320 were seized at a commercial centre at Jakar here on Wednesday (June 17).
According to a report, Sarawak Marine Police Region Five conducted a raid around 11am at the upper floor of a shoplot and arrested a woman in her 40s.
“During the raid, the owner of the premises failed to submit any valid documents.
“The suspect is being held on suspicion of having committed an offence under the Customs Act 1967,” said the Sarawak Marine Police in a press statement.
The case was forwarded to an investigating officer of the Sarikei Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
