Convenience store loses thousands of ringgit to robbers

KUCHING: Three robbers made off with thousands of ringgit from a 24-hour convenience store at Hui Sing Garden here early yesterday.

The incident took place at around 3.40am when three men, wearing full face helmets and armed with a knife entered the store.

One of the suspects was said to have pointed the knife at the staff of the store and ordered him to hand over all the money in the cash register.

The trio was also said to have grabbed several cartons of cigarettes, energy drinks and tidbits before fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, a pensioner lost RM58,000 in belongings after his house at Pisang Road West here was broken into by thieves yesterday.

The 59-year-old who is currently staying at a house in Jalan Hup Kee lodged a report on the incident after he discovered the break-in.

Among the items reported missing from the house by the victim included electric cables, a gas cylinder and a steel pole.

Police were investigating both cases.
