SIBU: Participants of the AGE Convention 5.0 – The Final Arc are encouraged to use the event as an opportunity to develop their communication skills.

According to Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan branch chairman, Councillor Kevin Lau Kor Jie, communication is deeply embedded in conventions such as this.

“Whether you are a cosplayer, a gamer, or an artist, through cosplay, you portray your character and express what you admire about them. As a gamer, you share the same vision of becoming a winning team, and as an artist, you convey what you wish to express through your art.

“Engaging in these activities will help you develop yourself, and I hope that your ability to communicate will assist you in progressing even further in the future,” he said while attending the programme as an invited guest at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) on Friday.

Lau, who is also the SUPP Central Youth chairman, urged participants to take the opportunity to delve deeply into the characters they admire, whether in anime or gaming.

“Usually, in stories, the scriptwriter highlights the difficulties that characters must overcome in their lives.

“It is through their unwavering spirit that they gain the courage and confidence to face numerous challenges and ultimately overcome them.

“I hope this value continues to resonate with each one of you because courage and confidence can help you progress throughout your life,” he said.

Also present was Senator Robert Lau and organising chairman Richard Lee.
