Cops bust drug dealer, seize RM12,400 in ecstasy pills

LUNDU: A local man’s drug-running days were cut short when police found him with RM12,400 worth of ecstasy pills during a raid at Kampung Rukam, here yesterday (Oct 20).

Lundu police chief Supt Sudirman Kram said acting on gathered intelligence, the 41-year-old was detained for inspection in front of an unnumbered house at around 2 pm.

“Further checks led to discovery of 248 blue pills believed to be ecstasy, weighing about 100.93g.

“The man’s initial urine test returned positive for drugs,” he said.

Sudirman said the suspect, who had no prior criminal record, has been remanded for seven days until Oct 27 to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and up to 12 lashes of the cane, upon conviction.

He shared that the Lundu Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) has arrested a total of 115 suspects so far this year for various drug trafficking and abuse offences in the district.

“This latest success reflects the continuous intelligence and information gathering efforts by our narcotics team. Police will not compromise with anyone involved in drug activities.
