KABONG: Narcotics police arrested a local man for allegedly having Nospan pills in his possession at Pantai Tanjung Kembang yesterday.

Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the suspect was arrested by a special task force team under ‘Ops Tapis Khas’, following a tip-off.
“A team led by Insp Wealy conducted a check on the 50-year-old suspect believed to be involved in drug distribution activities.
“Further checks led to the discovery of a plastic packet containing seven pills believed to be Nospan, kept inside a waist bag,” he said.
The suspect was later taken to Saratok police station for further investigations and his urine test came back negative for drugs.
Mathew also confirmed that the man did not have any prior criminal record.
The case is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952 for possession of poison or a substance listed under the same Act without a valid licence or prescription.
If convicted, the offence carries a fine of up to RM10,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
