SIBU: Community security and safety is not just the responsibility of the police force but requires active community involvement and continuous support from various enforcement agencies.

Sibu District police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the concept of modern policing requires comprehensive cooperation between the authorities and the people, in line with the “Police and Community Are Not Separate” approach which is the core principle of the Community Policing Programme.

“The police force cannot move alone in addressing today’s security challenges. Commitment and active involvement from all parties – whether the general public, other enforcement agencies, or local authorities – are crucial to ensuring that our environment remains peaceful and prosperous,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the Customer Day Programme organised by the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD) in collaboration with the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) at the Seduan Rantau Panjang People’s Housing Project (PPR) here on Saturday (Oct 11).
