BAU: A four-hour motorcycle operation on Saturday (Sept 5) uncovered a string of traffic offences, with police issuing 37 summonses and seizing a motorcycle.
‘Ops Motosikal’, conducted from 4 pm to 8 pm, saw police inspect 65 motorcycles and 73 individuals at Jalan Tondong-Apar near Redeems Centre in Singai and Jalan Kampung Daun.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said all 37 summonses were issued for offences involving motorcycles.
“These included 10 summonses each for modified exhaust systems and modifications to vehicle structures or equipment.
“Four summonses each were issued for riding without a valid licence and for registration plates that failed to comply with regulations.
“Three riders were compounded for not wearing helmets, while another six were issued summonses for missing rear-view mirrors,” he said.
In addition, the team also seized a motorcycle under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 to assist investigations into various modification offences.
Following this, Haide reminded motorcycle riders to ensure their vehicles are in good condition and comply with the prescribed specifications, possess valid driving licences and wear helmets properly.
He also warned against making vehicle modifications that could compromise safety.
