BAU: Bau police have started an investigation into a report filed on Dec 27 by a local 15-year-old girl, detailing a distressing incident of alleged rape in a hotel here.
Bau district police chief DSP Jawai Francis Kempas confirmed the investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code which carries a prison term of up to 20 years, with a mandatory corporal punishment upon conviction.
Kempas said his men are going all out to identify and catch the individuals involved promptly.
A public plea has been issued, urging anyone with relevant information about the incident or potential suspects to come forward.
