DALAT: Police have arrested a local man with prior drug-related offenses in connection with a housebreaking and theft case involving losses of around RM2,800.
According to Dalat district police headquarters (IPD), the incident took place on Wednesday (July 2) at a rented house along Jalan Oya-Dalat.
The victim, who was not home at the time, returned to find his house broken into and ransacked. Various personal belongings and cash were reported stolen.
Acting on the report, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) launched an investigation at the scene, and information obtained from witnesses led to the suspect’s arrest at his home.
“The suspect has two previous drug-related records. He also tested positive for amphetamine during a urine screening conducted upon arrest.
“The suspect is being held at Dalat police lock-up pending investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking,” police said.
Police advised members of the public to stay vigilant against individuals suspected of drug abuse and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station to prevent thefts in their neighbourhoods.
