SARATOK: A local man with 19 prior criminal records was once again on the wrong side of the law, as he and two others were arrested in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ on Tuesday.
Saratok Police Chief, DSP Mathew Manggie, said the 33-year-old, who is from Kota Samarahan, was apprehended along Jalan Taran, Nyabor, following a tip-off from the public.
“Acting on the information, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) stopped and inspected the man during routine patrol. Urine test later confirmed he was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“Background checks found that he had 19 prior records involving narcotics and criminal offences,” he said in a statement.
On the same day, two other men – aged 44 and 30 – were arrested at a petrol station after a mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit noticed their vehicle being driven suspiciously.
“Upon inspection, both men were alleged to be drug users with several items believed to be used for drug consumption inside the car.
“Further checks revealed that the 30-year-old had a prior record related to narcotics, while the 44-year-old had three prior records related to narcotics and crime,” he said.
Mathew stated that three suspects have been taken to the Saratok Police Station for further actions.
The cases are being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
