MUKAH: Narcotics police arrested a local woman for allegedly abusing drugs following a raid in Kampung Sungai Ragei yesterday (Oct 28).

The operation was carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) at around 11 am following a tip-off on suspected drug abuse activities in the area.

“During the raid, the team detained a man and his female companion found inside the house and brought them to the Mukah district police headquarters (IPD) for urine screening.

“However, test results showed that the male suspect was negative for drugs, while his 51-year-old female companion tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” police said.

Following that, the woman was subsequently detained at the Mukah police station lock-up for further action, while the man was released with a warning not to engage in drug-related activities.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug abuse.

Upon conviction, the offence carries a fine up to RM5,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, or both, and placed under two years of supervision under Section 38B of the same Act.
