Cops seek key witness in drug trafficking case

SERIAN: Narcotics police are seeking public assistance to locate a local man wanted in connection with a narcotics case under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said that the district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) is looking for the individual, who is a key witness to assist with ongoing investigation.

“The individual is identified as Khairol Azizi Sipri, 41, whose last known address is No 31, Lorong 2, Kampung Hulu in Serian.

“He was last seen at Vivacity Megamall in Kuching,” he said in a statement.

Members of the public, who know or have any information regarding his whereabouts, are urged to contact narcotics investigating officer Insp Harinnath Ravi at 017-5005731, or narcotics operations intelligence officer Sub Insp John Berma at 013-7522622.

They can also contact the Serian district police headquarters (IPD) at 082-874201, or any of the nearest police station.

“Your information could help in locating the individual,” he said.

Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 pertains to trafficking in dangerous drugs. Upon conviction, the offence carries the mandatory death penalty or life imprisonment and caning of not less than 15 strokes.
