BAU: Police will be stepping up patrols and enforcement operations during the upcoming Gawai Dayak celebration in a bid to reduce road accidents in the district.
Bau police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer pointed out that many are expected to return to their hometowns for the festive occasion this Sunday (Jun 1), thus increasing traffic volume on the roads.
“We are reminding the public to stay vigilant and drive responsibly while on the road.
“From Jan 1 to May 25 this year, Bau recorded three fatal accidents, two cases involving serious injuries, and a total of 108 property-damage-only accidents,” he said.
To ensure public safety during the festive season, Daram said they will be conducting increased patrols, monitoring and enforcement operations.
Motorists are urged to drive responsibly, observe all traffic laws, and prioritise the safety of themselves and their families.
“Drive responsibly, prioritise safety, and think of your loved ones,” he said.
