MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) has taken enforcement action against property owners who failed to comply with building regulations, demolishing unauthorised structures as part of its commitment to public safety and orderly urban development.
According to Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, three property owners have faced demolition measures since March 2025 for constructing or modifying buildings without the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities.
Speaking at a Full Council Meeting yesterday (March 24), Yii emphasised that these actions are essential to mitigating safety risks, maintaining urban harmony, and ensuring compliance with the Building Ordinance 1994.
MCC has reaffirmed its commitment to continuous monitoring and enforcement to ensure all construction and development activities here adhere to legal requirements.
Property owners are urged to follow proper procedures and obtain the necessary permits before undertaking any construction or renovation work.
The council also reminded the public to remain vigilant and comply with local authority regulations to support Miri’s development as a safe, organised, and well-planned city.
