KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) took swift action after receiving a pothole complaint near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jalan Arang.

MPP chairman Tan Kai confirmed the report was made at 9.09 am by headmaster Edward Peter Bajat via the MPP Hotline.

Following the report, he said MPP Resident Councillors and Engineering Division officers inspected the road to evaluate the damage.

“Following the visit, a maintenance schedule was drawn up to ensure prompt and proper repair works will be carried out soon.

“On the same evening, the MPP LA Serve team had already taken immediate temporary measures by covering up the potholes,” he said in a statement.

Tan said resolving public complaints is a priority and criticised attempts to politicise the issue instead of supporting local governance.

He expressed disappointment over actions by certain individuals or groups that tarnish MPP’s image for political or personal gain.

As such, he urged all parties to focus on solutions, not sensationalism, to better serve the community’s needs and wellbeing.

Tan advised the public to report issues directly to MPP for timely response, resolution, and proper follow-up.

“All complaints from the public will be recorded, and appropriate action will be taken accordingly,” he added.
