KUCHING: A total of 20 projects in Serian under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) have not been implemented, despite having received official approval.
GKCDA Chairman, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, urged all relevant agencies under GKCDA to expedite the projects that have been approved, but not implemented.
“I believe that recently, we all heard Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg mentioned that he was not happy with certain projects that have been approved but not implemented.
“So, on the same note, we are asking the agencies to expedite all these projects.
“It may not just involve the Serian District Council, especially on the land acquirement, as there are other departments that are involved in it.
“Other than just the council, we have the Public Works Department, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, that would have to carry out the projects as well,” he said.
Sagah said this when met by reporters after officiating at the swearing-in ceremony for the members of the Serian District Council (2025-2028 term) at Grand Margherita Hotel here today.
In addition to projects under GKCDA in Serian, Sagah added that there are several projects under the Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) that have not been implemented as well.
“Some of the major and minor projects that have not been implemented are not just from GKCDA, but also the RTP, to which department might have to implement it directly,” he added.
Earlier in his speech, Sagah stated that the development progress in Serian had been slow due to the un-implemented projects that have been approved.
“Of course, the blame is not on you (council members), as there are other agencies that are not doing their parts as much as they should.
“Therefore, I hope to see that we will be able to kick-start and expedite the project even faster with the new appointment of council members for Serian District Council, especially under the leadership of the new chairman, Datuk Peter Minos,” he said.
