
MIRI: A couple believed to be small-time drug dealers were arrested by police during a raid on a house in Kampung Lopeng here yesterday morning.
In the 9.45am raid, a police team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) also seized drugs believed to be syabu, weighing 21.06 grammes.
Miri District Deputy Police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the suspects, aged 28 and 47, were detained in one of the bedrooms of the house.
“During the raid, police found 25 packets filled with crystalline substance believed to be syabu on the mattress, in the same room.
“The police also confiscated a digital weighing scale,” he said here.
Stanley said both suspects had no previous criminal record related to drugs, but they were tested positive for drugs.
“The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
