SELANGAU: A tragic weekend crash along the Sibu-Bintulu Road, Pan Borneo Highway, claimed the lives of a married couple after their motorcycle rammed into a stationary lorry at Kilometre 97, Sepiring, on Sunday night.
The fatal collision happened at around 7:45 pm when the victims were riding towards Selangau from Bintulu.
Investigations found that their motorcycle veered out of control before slamming into the rear of the lorry parked on the roadside.
Mukah Police Chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the impact caused severe head injuries to the victims, both aged 28.
“Both of them were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Selangau Health Clinic. Their bodies were taken to Mukah Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
