KUCHING: The CPR & AED Charity Run 2026 will combine fitness with a lifesaving message, aiming to raise public awareness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) skills.
Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Stampin Branch chairperson Chew Kim Soon said learning CPR could equip members of the public with the skills and confidence to respond promptly when someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest.
“The event aims to raise public awareness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillators (AEDs), while promoting a healthy lifestyle,” he said in a statement issued by MRCS today (Sept 12).
The event is scheduled to be held at the MBKS Grounds on November 15 (Sunday), and will be officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
It will begin at 6.15am, with MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng also attending and joining Dr Sim to flag off the run.
The charity run will feature four categories, namely the 10km Men’s and Women’s Open Competitive Run, 5km Boys’ and Girls’ Student Competitive Run, 5km Open Fun Run and 3km Fun Walk.
Registration fees start from RM45, with individuals, families, schools, organisations and companies encouraged to participate.
Each successfully registered participant will receive an event shirt, finisher medal, running bib and refreshments, as well as a chance to win lucky-draw prizes.
Cash prizes will also be awarded to the top 10 winners in each competitive category, with a total prize purse of RM5,520 sponsored by the branch’s adviser, Elton Sim.
Registration remains open until October 18, with interested participants able to register and obtain further information via MalaysiaRunner.com or by scanning the QR code on the official event poster.
