SARATOK: Police issued 27 summonses during an integrated crime prevention operation carried out across Saratok, Kabong and Roban on Thursday (Jan 29).

Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the operation, conducted from 3pm to 10.30pm, involved roadblocks and patrols along the Pan Borneo Highway as well as surrounding markets, villages and residential areas.

A total of 95 individuals and 87 vehicles were inspected during the operation.

The vehicles checked comprised 15 motorcycles, 32 cars, 33 vans and four-wheel drives, and seven lorries and buses.

The operation involved 15 personnel, comprising one officer and 14 police personnel from various units, including roadblock and snap check teams.

He said the operation was aimed at curbing index crimes, enhancing police presence in crime hot spots, detecting wanted individuals and reducing traffic offences, particularly involving motorcyclists.
