MIRI : A routine night took an unexpected turn in Marina Phase 1, Miri, when firefighters were called to deal with a crocodile stranded on a public road late on Saturday night.
The alarm was raised at 10:03 pm, prompting a swift deployment from the Miri Central Fire and Rescue Station.
The team, led by PBK II (TBK I) Faizal Mohamad, discovered the 1.5-metre crocodile lying on the tarmac with visible injuries, believed to have been caused by a vehicle collision.
Despite the reptile’s condition, the situation still required controlled handling to avoid further risk to the public.
Firefighters executed a quick assessment before securing the animal using a standard snare-rope technique.
The operation concluded smoothly at 10.38 pm, with no casualties reported.
Six personnel and a fire rescue tender were deployed.
The crocodile has since been handed over to Sarawak Forestry for the next course of action.
