
KUCHING: It is vital to know issues concerning primary industries in Sarawak said Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok.
This was said during her courtesy visit to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan at the latter’s office in Wisma Sumber Alam here yesterday.
During the visit, Tengah and Kok discussed the timber industry in Sarawak, land use policies, plantation policies and forest certification.
Issues such as raw materials and government efforts in developing value-added industries were also discussed.
On the visit, Kok said it was to foster better relationship between the state and federal ministries.
Also present were Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talip Salleh, Sarawak Timber Industries Development Corporation general manager Hashim Bojet, Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources permanent secretary Datu Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar and Ministry of Primary Industries chief secretary Datuk Zurainah Pawanteh.
