BINTULU: Air-Marine Cargo Agency Sdn Bhd reaffirmed its commitment to community welfare by organising its second Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) blood donation campaign here recently.

Held in collaboration with the Bintulu Hospital Blood Bank, the campaign took place on Monday (Dec 29) at Times Square Megamall, attracting public participation.

“Wednesday and Thursday are the most suitable days, but Monday donations remain highly beneficial throughout the working week,” said Medical Officer at Bintulu Hospital Dr Azrai.

He added that blood group O is the most critically needed type within the community here, followed by blood groups B and A.

“The initiative aimed to help maintain adequate blood supplies, especially during the year-end festive season when hospitals commonly experience a shortage of donations.

“Organisers intentionally scheduled the programme on a weekday, recognising that weekday collections allow blood to be processed and utilised more effectively for medical procedures,” he said.

The campaign ran from 10 am to 12.30 pm, providing a convenient time window for shoppers, employees, and members of the public to participate.

“A total of 37 individuals registered as donors during the event, reflecting positive community awareness and willingness to contribute to lifesaving efforts.

“Out of those registered, 29 donors were successfully able to donate blood after undergoing the required health screening procedures conducted by medical staff,” he said.

Senior HSSE Executive of Air-Marine Cargo Agency, Hafisya Hasbollah, expressed sincere appreciation to all donors for their generosity and meaningful contributions.

She said the company was proud to work closely with the Bintulu Hospital Blood Bank to support essential healthcare services within the local community.

“To acknowledge their contribution, successful donors received tokens of appreciation, including fragrant rice and cash vouchers for daily necessities.

“These gestures were intended as a small expression of gratitude for the donors’ willingness to help save lives through voluntary blood donation,” she said.
