KUCHING: The Sarawak State Allied Health Profession’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Celebration 2025, themed ‘Beyond Healthcare: Serving With Responsibility’, served as an excellent platform to introduce the diverse services provided by members of the Allied Health Profession to the community.
Sarawak State Deputy Health Director (Medicine) Dr Azlee Ayub said the theme underscores the important role of Allied Health professionals.
“Beyond healthcare, the services rendered by the Allied Health Profession are not limited within the walls of healthcare facilities but are closely related to the well-being of individuals, families and the community,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the launching of the event at Vivacity Megamall here on Saturday.
The event, organised by the Allied Health Profession of Sarawak, featured interactive booths showcasing the work of professionals who operate behind the scenes in diagnosis, rehabilitation and treatment support.
Dr Azlee said their contributions are vital in ensuring patients receive accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment at hospitals and health clinics.
He added that the celebration also aims to raise awareness among youths and parents about the opportunities within the Allied Health Sciences field through activities such as live blood typing demonstrations and medical exhibitions.
“It is hoped that interest among the youth will be nurtured to pursue studies in related fields, as well as to build parents’ confidence should their children wish to embark on a career in this field,” he said.
Dr Azlee also encouraged the public to take advantage of the event by engaging directly with health professionals to learn practical skills such as using a glucometer, maintaining proper posture when lifting heavy items, and caring for elderly family members.
“For households with elderly family members, it is highly encouraged to make the most of this opportunity to gain knowledge that may help in caring for the elderly or in handling emergencies at home,” he said.
As of September 2025, there are 2,874 Allied Health staff members representing 25 professions serving across Sarawak.
