SARIKEI: The ‘Connect to Unite’ (CTU) programme, which is implemented through ground visiting activities by the relevant agencies, has helped to ensure all walks of society, particularly the rural folks, to benefit from direct government services.
Member of Parliament for Tanjung Manis, Datuk Hajah Norah Tun Rahman said such programme by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia in Kampung Bukit Kinyau here was a good example of how government agencies collaborated with each other to organise activities that benefited people.
She said such programme also helped to strengthen ties between the government and the people as services were rendered directly to them.
On the new policies such as digital economy and National Transformation Programme (TN50), Norah said it was government planning for the future of the people in this country.
She added that such policies would benefit people in the long term.
During the programme, Norah also handed over television and NJOI TV decoder sets to 10 selected recipients, grant of RM3,000 each to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Bukit Kinyau and grant of RM10,000 to the Bukit Kinyau Youth Association.
Kampung Bukit Kinyau, located 45 minutes’ ride by boat from Sarikei town, has a population of about 600, majority of whom are Malays and Melanaus.
Also present were Sarikei Resident Mohammad Junaidi Mohidin, KKMM Management Divisional Secretary Hairul Rashidan Md Rashid, Information Director-General’s representative Balakrishnan Kandasamy and deputy director of State Information Ali Suhaili.
