KUCHING: The formation of GPS was a much-awaited decision in line with the current socio-political sentiments.

With its formation, GPS has become an entity that is able to make independent decisions pertaining to matters that are close to the hearts of the majority of Sarawakians.

“One of our objectives is to focus on efforts to fight for and protect our state in accordance with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” said PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Masing.

“This is to build a progressive, fair and just, multiracial and multi-religious Sarawak based on the sovereignty principle,” he said in his message in the souvenir programme book of GPS’ official launch at the State Indoor Stadium tomorrow.

He hoped that GPS would be able to bring Sarawak forward, transcending religions, ethnicity and regions apart from creating a united and progressive populace.

Masing said with the approval of its registration by the Registrar of Societies (ROS), GPS had become a valid local brand with its presence being felt statewide.

He appealed to Sarawakians, young and old, and of all political persuasions, to work hand-in-hand in ensuring Sarawak would continue to enjoy rapid progress, strong unity, peace and stability in Malaysia.
