MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) has achieved a significant milestone in engineering education.
Its Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) programme has received full accreditation from Malaysia’s Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC).
The accreditation, granted for six years (2025–2030), reinforces the university’s standing as a leading institution for engineering education.
The EAC’s endorsement ensures that the programme meets both national and international education standards, aligning with the Washington Accord.
This global recognition enhances the employability of Curtin Malaysia’s graduates, as they will not only be recognised by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) but will also gain access to professional opportunities worldwide.
Professor Vincent Lee, Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor, President, and Chief Executive of Curtin Malaysia, expressed his pride in the achievement.
“This accreditation highlights the exceptional quality of our teaching, research, and industry collaborations. It is a testament to the dedication of our faculty, students, and industry partners in shaping the future of engineering,” he said.
Professor Thuy Tuong Vu, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Science, emphasised the accreditation’s significance.
“This endorsement reflects the strength of our academic foundation and research-driven approach. Our students graduate with industry-relevant skills, ensuring they are ready to lead in the fast-evolving global engineering sector,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Mohan Moola Reddy, Head of the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, commended the department’s academic team for their hard work.
“Our programme continuously evolves to meet industry demands, equipping graduates with the competencies and innovative mindsets necessary to tackle the engineering challenges of the future,” he said.
