SIBU: The Customs Department Sibu Branch triumphed at the two-day Lanang Cup 2025 Civil Servants Pickleball tournament which concluded at IPSS academy in UTC building here recently.
The victory entitled the team to take home cash RM600 and champion trophy.
Taking the second spot was Sibu Health Department, followed by Sibu District Education Office as second runners-up and third-runners-up went to National Registration Department.
The second, third and fourth place winning teams received cash prizes of RM500, RM400 and RM300 along with respective trophies.
Meanwhile, the hosting Lanang Pickleball Club (LPC) president, Daniel Iing Shii Ngie, who officiated at the closing ceremony, said the competition was not just to unearth talent in the sport of pickleball but rather as a platform to instil unity and strengthen friendships among civil servants, especially in the central region of Sarawak.
“I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the participants, sponsors, organising committee, referees and volunteers who ensured the tournament ran smoothly and with a spirit of sportsmanship.
“Today, we are not only celebrating the victory but also the spirit of unity and cooperation that has been established between all the participating departments in this central region,” he said.
According to him, all the participants have shown greatness, discipline and extraordinary team spirit.
“For me, all the participants are champions because of the spirit and dedication shown throughout this tournament,” ling added.
