KUCHING: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department has introduced the Malaysian Customs Import/Export Document System (MyCIEDS) for Sarawak Zone as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen digital transformation within the department.

Customs Director-General Datuk Wira Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin said the web-based system facilitates the submission of supporting documents between customs officers and forwarding or importing agents for each Customs Form declared through the Customs Information System (SMK).

“MyCIEDS can be accessed through any internet-connected device without requiring additional software installation, making it a more efficient facilitation platform.

“The system has been implemented in stages since January, with more than 1,550 companies and forwarding agents nationwide already registered as users,” she said in a statement yesterday (Oct 14).

Anis stated that the introduction of MyCIEDS offers multiple benefits, including improved operational efficiency by allowing simultaneous digital document verification by several officers, thereby expediting the release of traded goods.

Additionally, the system helps minimise errors and fraud through automation and data integration, while enabling real-time tracking of all activities and documents to enhance transparency.

“Forwarding agents no longer need to physically deliver documents to customs offices, thus saving time and reducing operational costs,” she said.

Anis also expressed her appreciation to all Customs personnel, government agencies, private sector partners and strategic collaborators for their continued support in the successful implementation of MyCIEDS.
