MUKAH: Politeknik Mukah (PMU) continues to make its mark through its students, with Cuthberta Entai playing a key role in Malaysia’s triumph at the SEA Women’s XV Championship 2026 held recently in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
A student from PMU’s Department of Commerce, Cuthberta featured as a flanker for the national women’s 15s rugby team, delivering consistent and disciplined performances throughout the tournament.
Malaysia emerged champions after overcoming the region’s leading teams, securing the title in a display of teamwork and resilience.
Cuthberta attributed the success to strong team spirit and the unwavering support of coaches, teammates and her institution.
“I am truly grateful and proud to have contributed to the national team’s victory.
“This achievement is not an individual effort but the result of the entire team’s hard work during training and competition,” she said.
She also expressed appreciation to PMU for its continued support of her sporting commitments, and thanked her lecturers for their understanding of her responsibilities as a national athlete.
According to her, encouragement from various quarters has motivated her to balance both academic pursuits and sporting excellence effectively.
Her participation in the championship served as an important platform to assess the capability and competitiveness of women athletes at the international level.
The commitment and fighting spirit she displayed underscore that PMU students are not only academically accomplished but also capable of competing in high-performance sports.
The achievement has brought pride not only to her family and the PMU community but also to the nation on the international sporting stage.
