MIRI : A senior citizen died on Thursday night after his bicycle was hit by a car near Niah town, about 1 hour 12 mins from here..
Police District Chief, Assistant Commissioner, Lim Meng Siah said the accident happened at around 7pm and that Ambie Bejie,63, died on the way to Miri Hospital.
“Initial investigations showed that the cyclist suddenly rode into the lane of the Proton Saga which was heading towards Niah town. The car collided with the bicycle because the motorist could not stop his car in time,” said Lim in his press statement yesterday.
Lim added as a result, the cyclist suffered serious injuries on his body.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old motorist was unhurt.
Police are investigating the case.
