KUCHING: A father was sentenced to six months’ jail by the Sessions Court today for injuring his son with a plastic chair during a verbal argument between them on Aug 3.
According to case facts, the incident occurred around 4.30pm at the home of the employer where his son resided in Stampin, after a verbal argument broke out between the father and son.
The argument began when the complainant, 26, confronted his father for repeatedly leaving the house untidy while he was away at work.
The accused, Ju Hock Kang, 53, grew angry and reacted aggressively by throwing a plastic chair at his son.
As a result of the incident, the complainant suffered an injury to his right finger.
A police report was lodged against the accused, leading to his arrest on Aug 7.
During today’s mention of the case, Hock Kang, who is unemployed, pleaded guilty to a single charge read out before Judge Musli Abdul Hamid.
He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the same Code.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 10 years’ imprisonment, or a fine, or whipping, or a combination of these.
Before the judge delivered the sentence, the accused pleaded for leniency.
He told the court that he had acted out of anger after his son gave him three days to move out of the house.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Chuah Kai Sheng, while the accused was unrepresented.
