KUCHING: Dae Guk M Sdn Bhd has presented a RM50,000 corporate sponsorship to the Sarawak Scout Council to support its youth development programmes and national scouting activities.
Its Chief Executive Officer, Kim Sang Chul, officially handed over the contribution to Sarawak Scout Council’s President, Tan Sri Datuk Seri William Mawan Ikom, at his office in the Yayasan Sarawak Building today.
Kim, who was inspired by his childhood experience as a Scout in Seoul, South Korea, made the contribution after learning about the financial challenges faced by the movement in the state from the council’s honorary treasurer, Khairul Anwar Shazali.
The funding aims to support essential youth development initiatives and ease financial burdens for Scouts, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds, enabling them to participate in national events such as Scout Jamborees.
Expressing his appreciation, Mawan commended Kim and Dae Guk M Sdn Bhd for their generosity and commitment to youth development.
“This generous contribution reflects the true spirit of community partnership and social responsibility.
“On behalf of the Sarawak Scout Council, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kim Sang Chul and Dae Guk M. Sdn Bhd for their invaluable support towards the development of our young Scouts,” Mawan said during the ceremony at Yayasan Sarawak building.
He expressed hope that the contribution would encourage more corporate bodies and business leaders to partner with the Scout Movement through sponsorship.
“With greater support from the corporate sector, more enthusiastic young Scouts – especially those who face financial constraints – will have the opportunity to participate in national jamborees and leadership programmes that shape responsible, resilient and service-oriented citizens,” he added.
The Sarawak Scout Council views the contribution as a vital investment in local youth, demonstrating how the core values of Scouting continue to transcend borders and generations.
