KUCHING: Starting from February 8, AirAsia will expand the number of flights between Jakarta and Kuching from three times a week to daily.

According to Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, AirAsia seats are available for booking now for immediate travel from as low as Rp689.000 all-in for flights departing Jakarta and RM149 from Kuching.

“Bookings can be made conveniently via the AirAsia Superapp and AirAsia website,” he said in a statement today.

AirAsia Indonesia’s route, which began service on June 15, 2023, has proven to be a popular option for Sarawakians and Indonesians alike. It has effectively facilitated greater connectivity between the two regions and unlocked many prospects for mutual development, trade, and tourism.

“Offering more convenient travel options at affordable fares, the increase in flight frequency marks a significant milestone in the tourism industry recovery for both countries,” he said.

“It is important to note that the establishment of Indonesia’s new administrative capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan, is a step towards greater connectivity from Sarawak to other regions of Indonesia,” he added.
