MIRI: The Dayak Association Miri (DAM) plays a crucial role in fostering community engagement, voluntary work and leadership development among its members particularly within the Iban community.
Having said this, Pemanca Alexander Isut Karin pointed out the significance of active participation in DAM.
“Joining DAM Miri provides a good platform for members to serve, nurture leadership and build networks,” he said during DAM’s new exco members installation and ‘Ngiling Tikai’ dinner here, last night (June 22).
Alexander was representing Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who was unable to attend.
With over 700 members in attendance, the event marked the installation of new executive committee members for the 2024-2025 term.
Alexander also proposed the establishment of a new Dayak cultural centre, noting the importance of DAM’s continued expansion to reach both rural and urban areas.
“Such initiatives are vital for preserving cultural heritage and providing a space for community activities,” he added.
