KUCHING: A delegation from Denmark expressed their admiration for the rapid progress of the Sarawak Ombudsman institution and the state’s continuous efforts to strengthen governance and integrity.

Denmark’s Parliamentary Ombudsman, Christian Britten Lundblad, said that although the institution is still new compared to the 70-year-old Danish Ombudsman, its achievements in a short period have been remarkable.

“We have an institution that is 70 years old, but they are moving forward very quickly here.

“I am always inspired by this cooperation and the perspectives shared. Even though we come from different backgrounds, the challenges we face are actually very similar,” he said.

He said this when met after a courtesy visit to Sarawak Attorney General, Datuk Seri Saferi Ali, at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Also present was the Ambassador of Denmark to Malaysia, H.E. Kirstine Vangkilde Berner.

According to Lundblad, the courtesy visit aimed to deepen cooperation and to understand firsthand how the Ombudsman institution operates in Sarawak.

He explained that during the meeting, they discussed how the Ombudsman institution functions, as well as the investigative tools and methods used.
