KUCHING: The story of Danken Philip, a 56-year-old smallholder from Kampung Sangai Mawang in Serian, was featured under the ‘Gerakan Malaysia Bersamaku’ campaign.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim commended Danken’s commitment, noting the vital role of farmers and planters in sustaining the country’s economy, particularly in agriculture and commodities.
He added that the MADANI government remained focused on supporting smallholders through initiatives such as the BUDI MADANI cash aid, the PRIMA financing scheme for high-tech farming, and the Oil Palm Smallholders Replanting Scheme 2.0 (TSPKS), aimed at boosting incomes, strengthening the economy, and ensuring the sector remained competitive.
“All these efforts are aimed at raising people’s income, strengthening the national economy, and ensuring the agriculture sector remains competitive,” he said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, Danken said the assistance provided under government schemes had been timely and helpful.
“We hope such programmes continue because they really help small farmers like us to move forward,” he said.
The ‘Gerakan Malaysia Bersamaku’ campaign captures the faces of Malaysians from various backgrounds through photography, celebrating their resilience, values and unity.
From farmers and plantation settlers to nurses, teachers, single mothers and small traders, each portrait tells a story of struggle and resilience that reflects Malaysians’ strong work ethic.
