SIBU: The Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) will field its incumbents to defend both the Lanang and Sibu parliamentary seats, and Tony Chiew Chin Sing will stand for the parliamentary seat in Bintulu.
The announcement was made yesterday (Oct 22) at the DAP Sibu branch fundraising dinner by its chief Chong Chieng Jen.
According to Chong, the selection of candidates does not happen overnight.
“They are chosen for their achievements, hard work and service to the people. Give our young people a chance,” he said in his speech.

Ling garnered 33,811 votes while Barisan Nasional (BN)-Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) candidate (the late) Datuk Andrew Wong Kee Yew polled 22,389 votes.
Two other candidates Jamie Tiew Yen Huong of the Sarawak Peace Party, polled 377 votes, while Simon Tiong Ing Tung of the State Reform Party (Star) managed to secure only 176 votes.
