ALMOST all villages and longhouses in Daro have enjoyed the 24 hours electricity supply.

Daro assemblyman, Safiee Ahmad, said that previously around 60 per cent in his constituency did not have electrical supply, which he had been voicing out a few years ago.

“Alhamdulilah, I would like to thank Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for fulfilling the peoples wishes.

“Right now only one package of the Rural Electrical Supply Project (BELB) that is still in establishment stages,” he said.

Similarly, in terms of telecommunications facilities, Safiee added that almost all settlements in Daro have access to 4G network coverage.

“Currently, only two towers remain under the JENDELA programme implemented by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), which are expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.

“Meanwhile, the others, particularly those under the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) are fully operational.

This means that 16 out of 18 towers have been fully completed and equipped with telecommunications equipment.

“In addition, seven longhouses in the Sungai Passin settlement, which is the most remote settlement upstream under the N.43 Daro constituency, have not only gained access to 4G coverage but are also equipped with Wi-Fi through the Sarawak Rural Broadband Network (MySRBN),” he said.

He said this when debating in support of the motion of appreciation to the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s speech in the August house today.

On another note, Safiee emphasised on the development of human capital, particularly in raising awareness among the younger generation about the importance of education in an increasingly sophisticated world and rapid technological advancement.

“This includes fostering cooperation with various relevant stakeholders, which must be given due attention and emphasis.

“In addition, efforts to boost economic progress and explore new investment opportunities must be enhanced through the implementation of various strategic measures.

“Therefore, we are confident that with a far-sighted and visionary government under the leadership of Abang Johari not only will Sarawak continue to progress, but its people will also enjoy greater well-being,” he concluded.
