SIBU: The redevelopment model of Darul Hana should serve as the master plan for implementing other Bumiputera land development projects across the state.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that this system should be implemented everywhere, including in Kapit, Sibu and Baram.

“I have informed Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg that the Darul Hana model should be used as the blueprint for developing areas, including Sibu.

“It is not about taking people’s land, but an effort to build beautiful rows of houses,” he said during the Statesman’s Lecture held at the Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor Hall, Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), today.

Earlier, he noted that Darul Hana has become the first truly successful example of Bumiputera land redevelopment in Sarawak.

“We are not just building houses, we are preserving identity, culture, and most importantly, the property ownership that has been redeveloped with added value for the Malays and Bumiputera.

“I have made my position clear to Abang Johari that he should not change this system. The Darul Hana model must be the master plan for all future Bumiputera land development,” he said.

He added that Darul Hana is one of the Malay settlements in Kuching.

“The name of the village must be preserved, the village layout must be followed, and of course, with the expansion and connection of villages, the locations of each village such as Boyan, Gersik, Sourabaya, Panglima Seman, Kampung Pulo, Semarang, and Bintawa will change. That’s fine. But the name and legacy must be preserved,” he emphasised.
