KUCHING: Community spirit was in full force as Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) spearheaded two programmes today, aimed at promoting environmental consciousness and a drug-free lifestyle.

In conjunction with World Environment Day, DBKU organised the ‘Kayuhan Alam Sekitar 2025’ (Environmental Ride 2025) at Tugu Pahlawan.

Flagged off at 7:00 am by DBKU Mayor, Datuk Hilmy Othman, the event drew over 400 participants, including students, families, environmental advocates, and professional cyclists.

The ride aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting and conserving the environment through healthy and eco-friendly activities.

Meanwhile, the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Sarawak Branch, in collaboration with DBKU, held the 10,000 Informative Steps programme in conjunction with Anti-Drug Day 2025.

The walk was flagged off at 7:30 am and attracted more than 1,000 participants who showed their support in the fight against drug abuse.

Through a relaxed and interactive approach, participants were exposed to various important information about the negative effects of drugs and steps that can be taken to avoid drug use.

For the record, DBKU reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with AADK to combat drug abuse, particularly within the local community.

This strong partnership aims to ensure a safe and healthy environment for residents and to protect the younger generation from the threat of drugs.
