KUCHING: Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and the Sarawak Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are strengthening strategic cooperation to enhance local public safety, enforcement, and community development.

The collaboration was reaffirmed during a courtesy visit by Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saifullizan Ishak to DBKU Director, Ramzi Abdillah, at the DBKU headquarters in Bukit Siol here today.

DBKU in a statement said the meeting also served as a platform for both parties to explore joint initiatives that could contribute to a safer urban environment, particularly in high-traffic and public areas.

As part of the visit, Sarawak PDRM was briefed on DBKU’s ongoing closed-circuit television (CCTV) project.

The system, aimed at improving public safety and assisting law enforcement, has been operational in stages since June 30.

To date, 64 CCTV units have been installed across 17 poles in key locations, including major intersections, high-risk zones, and public hotspots.

The initiative not only enhances surveillance and traffic monitoring but also supports crime prevention and investigation efforts through real-time data sharing with the police.

“DBKU and PDRM remain committed to ensuring the safety of local residents through strategic cooperation, information sharing, and the continuous implementation of joint operations.

“This commitment aligns with ongoing efforts to create a safe, peaceful and harmonious urban environment for the well-being of the community,” the statement added.
