KUCHING: The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) intends to make the DBKU X Games a national flagship event next year.

DBKU mayor Datuk Hilmy Othman said the proposal was made following the overwhelming response from various segments of the community during this year’s edition of the event.

“Throughout 2024, DBKU had organised various recreational and sports programmes. Although the DBKU X Games is not a flagship event this year, the response we have received to date was very encouraging.

“I would like to thank all the participants from different age groups who took part in this event,” he said at the closing ceremony of the event yesterday.

Hilmy also highlighted DBKU’s commitment towards expanding participation in recreational and sports events among Kuching residents through collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other government agencies.

“DBKU’s aim is to involve all walks of life in society towards sports and recreational events. With the cooperation of the ministry, government agencies, and the private sector, we would be able to provide a platform for Kuching residents to stay active and participate in sports,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the DBKU X Games, in collaboration with Canard, recorded around 100 participants from across Sarawak and West Malaysia.

Also present was Canard Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nik Mohd Suhaily.
